This week, Drew is joined on air by Dr. Howard Schilit, author of the new book Financial Shenanigans. Dr. Schilit is an international leader in forensic accounting and corporate governance and author of Financial Shenanigans: How to Detect Accounting Gimmicks & Fraud in Financial Reports (McGraw-Hill) 3rd Edition, May 2010. He has been a leading spokesman before Congress, the SEC, and media outlets about causes and early warning signs of accounting tricks in public filings. In 2010, Dr. Schilit founded the Financial Shenanigans Detection (FSD) Group, LLC. In 1994, he founded and ran a global forensic accounting research organization, Center for Financial Research & Analysis (CFRA) until 2005. He frequently lectures on the subject of financial shenanigans to investors, bankers, lawyers, journalists and insurers. BusinessWeek featured Dr. Schilit in an article titled "The Sherlock Holmes of Accounting," and Smart Money magazine selected him twice as one of the "Power 30" of investing. A former professor of accounting at American University, Dr. Schilit holds a doctorate in accounting from the University of Maryland.

This week, Drew is joined on the show by Roger Bootle, author of the book The Trouble With Markets. Roger Bootle is one of the City of London’s best known economists, having worked in or around the financial markets since 1978. As well as being Managing Director of Capital Economics, he is also a Specialist Adviser to the House of Commons Treasury Committee and an Honorary Fellow of the Institute of Actuaries. He was formerly Group Chief Economist at HSBC and, under the previous Conservative government, he was appointed one of the Chancellor’s panel of economic forecasters, the so-called “Wise Men”. He studied Economics at Oxford, and began his career in the academic world as a lecturer in Economics at St Anne’s College, Oxford. He has written many articles and several books on monetary economics. Roger’s latest book, The Trouble with Markets, analyses the deep causes of the recent financial crisis and discusses the threats to capitalism arising from it.
